Students Excel in Competition
Two Carnegie Mellon students received recognition in a recent city-wide competition by Education Adelaide. Andrei Martin Diamante from the Philippines won grand prize in the photography competition, while Asim Maqbool from Pakistan won 3rd place (runner up) in the same category. Both are AusAID scholars in the MSIT program.
The Letters Home Competition is an annual event for international students, with the intention of promoting Adelaide as an international academic city. Education Adelaide received over a hundred entries from international students all over Adelaide for three categories of the competition: letter (essays), photography, and video.
The city of Adelaide is known to house three of the best Australian universities, namely University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, and Flinders University. It is also the first city in Australia to welcome international universities, with Carnegie Mellon University being the first American university to set campus in the country, which will be joined soon by University College London of UK.
Awarding of winners was done in the Adelaide Festival Centre last September 26 in an open bar event. Sponsors of the competition were OSHC Worldcare and ANZ Bank.
