Convocation - Dr Tom Stubbs

Presentation Topic: "Can the public sector survive in the 21st century?"

Dr Tom Stubbs was Chief Executive of the Government Reform Commission in South Australia from July 2006 through to the completion of its work at the end of 2008.  He reported to former Queensland Premier Wayne Goss as Commission Chair.  Immediately prior to that appointment he was Acting Chief Executive of the SA Department of Health.  His previous experience includes numerous Executive positions in Health, Human Services, Premier and Cabinet, Housing and Urban Development, Environment and Planning and the Environment Protection Authority. 

He has tertiary qualifications in science, education and music and started his career as a physicist in a teaching and research position at the University of Adelaide.  He now has his own business advising Government and the private sector in areas such as health system management and public sector management.  He is also involved in Executive recruitment and development.  He has a particular interest in the evolving nature and relevance of ‘public service’.
