Application Process

The Master of Science in Information Technology is now accepting applications for the part time and full time program. Please review the process below and proceed to the online application.

How to Apply

  • Application and Fee. The application form must be completed online. There is no fee to apply.

  • Deadlines

  • Transcripts. One official transcript is required from each college and university attended, regardless of whether credit or a degree was obtained. Transcripts can be scanned and uploaded into the online application system however; the admissions office must also receive official transcripts, enclosed in an envelope and signed across the seal by the registrar's office. Forward the transcript(s), along with the other application materials, to the address listed below for the Admissions Office in Adelaide, Australia.

  • Recommendations. Recommendation forms should be completed online through the online application system. Recommendations must be completed by three individuals who are able to evaluate your intellectual, academic or professional capacity. In the case of "paper" recommendations, forms must be submitted in sealed envelopes, signed by the recommender across the seal, and enclosed with your completed application materials or returned directly by the recommender. Send "paper" recommendations to the address listed below for the Admissions Office in Adelaide, South Australia. Please note recommendations from friends, family members or acquaintances, and other sources not able to evaluate applicants on an academic or professional basis, are not appropriate.

  • Essay. A 1,000 word essay describing your background, your career goals and how the MSIT program will help you achieve your goals is required. You may submit an optional second essay to comment on any item(s) in your application that you think worthy of further explanation (address any weaknesses or strengths). Please limit this to 250 words.

  • Résumé. A résumé is a one or two page summary of your education skills, accomplishments, employment experience and volunteer experience. The résumé MUST be current and include all part time and full time work experience, the dates of when the employment began and ended and a brief description of your responsibilities under the title of the position.   • GMAT or GRE. Applicants are required to take either the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Records Exam (GRE). If taking the GRE, only the general test is required. If you took the test more than five years ago, you must take it again. Please visit www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT or www.gre.com for more information.

    Candidates must create an online account on www.mba.com and receive username/password to log-on and schedule their exams. Method of payment: credit card, via phone: 02 9478 5430 (Sydney)

  • English Language Requirements All applicants must meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible to be offered a place. If your native language is not English please review this section carefully.

    • The Academic IELTS test overall result must be 7.0 or higher.

      Test scores must be submitted directly by International English Language Testing System (IELTS). When asked to indicate where you would like your score report sent, please use the mailing address listed below for the Admissions Office and please list Carnegie Mellon University when sitting the test.

    • The minimum TOEFL score must be: 600 paper- based , 250 computer-based or 100 Internet -based.

    • Test scores must be submitted directly by Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), when asked to indicate where you would like your score report sent, please use the mailing address listed below for the Admissions Office and please list Carnegie Mellon University when sitting the test.

    • Carnegie Mellon University-AusAID Scholarship applicants and Applicants from countries where assessment level for student visa process are 1 and 2 may submit a TOEFL test score for admission.  Please check the assessment level of your country of citizenship at http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1219i.pdf

    • English language requirements may also be met by providing evidence of study in the English language medium for at least 5 years in any one or more of the following countries:
